That tall thing below that looks like a lighthouse is a silo. It holds "silage" - that’s what cows eat during the winter months. The next picture shows Mrs. McCandless watching Moochie painting his house for Hannah, his pet chicken.

On the left above is me, about to pitch some hay. Don’t laugh, I actually did. I’ve got the blisters to prove it. On the right are Jimmy and Sammy, who have become great pals. Every day Jimmy shows us more of the many interesting things about a modern dairy farm. I didn’t imagine rural life to be like this; here they have all the advantages of city life, plus lots and lots of space. I have also learned that dairy farming is a business operation, requiring business skill and a big investment in land, buildings, equipment, livestock, etc.
